Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to be a member of Hidden Springs to sign up for lessons there?

No! You do not have to be a member to sign up for lessons at Hidden Springs.

If your child does not like to put their face in the water or know how to hold their breath under water, they will be likely Starfish level.

If your child can go under water safely either holding their breath or bubbles but needs to learn how to swim from wall to teacher and get more comfortable on their back floats, they will be likely Pufferfish level.

If your child is comfortable in the water, able to swim a short distance and float a little but not confident to swim on their own, we recommend starting at Turtles levels.

If you know your child can swim safely on their own but needs a refresher on strokes and proper side breathing, then start with the Snappers or Leatherbacks levels. More details on each level can be found on the lesson details.

If we find that the level is not the right fit for your child, we will try to accommodate a class change, based on availability.

Yes, there is an annual one time registration fee per family of $25 that will be applied to your account upon checkout.

You will add your class selection to your cart and can pay via credit card or ACH bank account.

Our youngest student is 6 months old, in either Private Lessons 1:1 or Water Babies (Parent and Me Class). All students under age 3 can join private or water babies classes. Due to limited water babies classes, you can enroll your child in any private lesson and request to be in the pool (private parent and me class).

You may share a private lesson with a friend as well.

Please add second the child to the waitlist and notify us at LuSwimSchool@gmail.com with the class and child’s name that you’d like to share the class with
and we will update the class to semi-private.The cost is an additional $10/lesson for the extra child.

We have both indoor and outdoor pool options. Lessons will happen rain or shine, with the exception of lightening and thunder. We will notify you if we cancel lessons due to weather and there is no make up fees if Lu’s Swim School cancels.

Every child starts at a different level, and learns at a different rate so we can not predict or guarantee when your child will be water safe. We recommend consistency and frequency of lessons for best progress especially for our beginner students.

Yes, as long as both your children are similar in levels, they can be in a private lesson together as long as they are older then 3 years old. For example, a 3 and 5 year old siblings are both beginners so they can share a private 30 min lesson.

If one child is 3 years old and the other is 2 years of age, we advise you to sign up for two separate lessons for the best progress.

Sharing a lesson with this age gap can be tricky due learning differences; however, if they are both beginners, we can accommodate this request. After our first lesson, Coach Lu will advise you to either keep them together arrange for two private lessons.

For the water safety levels 1-3, our youngest age requirement is 3 years old. For children younger than age 3, we recommend private lessons to begin with.

Yes, we offer weekly intensive classes starting in mid-June. These classes are designed for students who can attend 4-5 classes per week. There will be small group and private lessons available.

We offer water babies which is a small group parent/guardian and me class during the summer months of July and August. For this class, we recommend your child be under age 3 and at least 6 months old. One parent or guardian needs to be in the water with their student. Water Babies (Parent and Me Class)

Infants are taught by Coach Lu and these private lessons are pre arranged with Coach Lu. This class requires commitment and consistency. No parent is needed in the water.

Private lessons are designed for one family to have their child to have a 1:1 with an instructor. If the family has 2 children similar in level, then 2:1 is allowed.

Semi-private is designed for two families who have children similar in age and level to share a lesson together.

The cost is an additional $10/lesson for the extra child.

If your child has special request, we recommend you start with a private lesson and please inform Coach Lu or manager Joy of these requests so we can best arrange the appropriate instructor for your child. (Ex: My child has autism; My child has anxiety; My child had a traumatic experience and is hesitant around water.)

When it comes to learning how to swim, there is no limit on age as we offer lessons from ages 1-99. If you are still not sure which level best fits your needs, I suggest you reach out to Coach Lu for further advise. There are many inquires at this time so it will take 3-5 days for a response.

Please reach out to LuSwimSchool@Gmail.com and we can recommend an instructor that fits your needs and schedule. This will be a private lesson (unless you have a friend to learn with!), typically 60 minutes in length.
